Grants for Cosmetology School: Where to Find Them?

Are you a cosmetology student looking for grants and financial aid for school?  If so, it is important to consider where your resources may lie in terms of grant funding for college -  a source that does not require that you repay the financial aid.

Most cosmetology schools work with federal financial aid programs which means students can typically qualify for a Pell grant if they have a financial need. To determine your financial eligiblity, you’ll have to first complete a FAFSA form online. The FAFSA is easy to fill out and results are sent to your school electronically. Once received, the school will determine your eligibility for a Pell grant and any other state grant programs. Following this step, you may be inclined to pursue your education by using student loans and other federal funding. However, before considering this option, always be sure to look for private grants for school. These are grants that many come from your local cosmetology suppliers, the local beauty shops, or even from local hairdressers that are willing to provide you with a grant to help you pursue your dreams of cosmetology school and a career in hair, makeup, and fashion.


While it is easier to secure loans through the federal government, loans will be financial aid funds that you’ll have to repay once you complete school. So, it is important to avoid that kind of financial aid, of possible, and, instead, go for the grants from public and private donors.
